The Mercer Island Rotary Half Marathon 

Please mark your calendar, the 2008 Mercer Island Rotary Half Marathon will be March 9, 2008.

Thanks to all of you who participated in the 2007 Mercer Island Rotary Half Marathon. 2007 was our biggest year yet with almost 3,700 participants!

The 2008 Race will start at The Community Center at Mercerview and finish at Luther Burbank Park at the north end of Mercer Island. We are making this move partly to reduce our impact on downtown Mercer Island but to a larger degree to take advantage of the excellent facilities at the Community Center and Luther Burbank Park. We think it will be a big improvement in many ways.

Farmers Insurance has hosted the race for the last 35 years and has been an extremely valued sponsor of the event. For this, we can not thank them enough. Happily this relationship will continue with the move to the north end as Farmers will again sponsor Race Village at Luther Burbank Park.

The Rotary Club of Mercer Island Foundation applies the net proceeds of this event to support local, national and international charitable programs. This is our second year of sharing the net proceeds with organizations dedicated to the research and prevention of colon cancer. We are proud to work with local health organizations and sponsors on this important objective.
